Two Tales with a Moral

A tale of two tales with a moral.
Kelly’s schedule was packed. It had been weeks since she felt she could breath, let alone relax. She had just given birth to her third son eight months prior and was still adjusting to going back to work as a real estate agent.
Kelly was so thankful for the flexibility of her job, but felt the pressure to make some sales since money was getting tight. She and her husband Nick took a leap of faith in purchasing their five bedroom, three bath, two story home on a lovely cut de sac three years before. They were able to make their mortgage payments and were never late, but they knew it would take consistent work on both their parts to continue to live comfortably.
Kelly and Nick were both driven individuals who kept up with church activities, excelled in their respective fields (Nick owned and operated a lawn care and landscaping service), enjoyed exploring the city, and despite going on eleven years of marriage, still enjoyed each other’s company.
Kelly and Nick often found themselves spending their free time cooking, cleaning, tending to their children’s needs (and entertainment), and falling asleep after watching an X-Files episode (they loved reruns) by 9:45pm.
“Kelly… I was thinking maybe we could leave the kids with Mom and Dad this weekend and… you know…we could go to the Melting Pot or The Rieger, I will take you ice skating, and then maybe we could spend some time around the house…” Nick suggested as Kelly brushed her teeth.
“Ya! That sounds great! I’ve been wanting to relax at home with you forever without the kids around and I would love to go on a date!” Kelly smiled.
By the middle of the weekend, Kelly and Nick had finished the laundry, meal prepped for the week, taken care of the lawn chores, taken both cars for oil changes, followed up on a few pressing work related tasks, cleaned out the garage, deep cleaned the bathrooms, and deep cleaned the kitchen.
It was 4pm, and they both knew they would need to begin getting ready if they wanted to be on time for their plans. They sunk into the couch, wiped out, looked at each other and simultaneously said, “Pizza.”
They turned on X-Files but fell asleep before they could start playing detective with each other.
The next day, they woke up to the sound of the doorbell. Before they could sit up all the way, Mimi, Papa, and all the kids bolted through the front door ready to tell them all about their adventure at The Jump House (followed by the nightmare at Walmart) and how much fun they had building sofa forts.
Kelly and Nick were delighted to know that the kids had fun and felt so thankful for their parents’ help… but they were also disappointed that they didn’t get as much time as they were hoping for in their “staycation” to enjoy each other.
“Nick… next time, maybe we could plan things out a little better so that we can go on a real date?” Kelly’s question felt more like a reassurance to Nick.
“That’s just what I was thinking.” said Nick, just before he turned into Daddy Bear and wrestled the boys to the ground.
Part 2.
Seven weeks later.
Nick rolled out of bed and stepped on a lego. “Dam…..nation!” he screamed out. “Kelly, this place is a dump. There are toys all over, I couldn’t cook because there are so many dishes in the sink. I turned on the ceiling fan the other day and was rained on by dust… and I’m running out of clean socks and underwear.”
Kelly was just as exasperated by the state of the house as Nick was. “I’ve been to swamped with sales lately and the boys have play dates and a few activities this week that we can’t miss again… we’ve paid for them in advance. I thought you were going to clean out the fridge last week and clean the bathrooms? I was really wanting to take a long bath but it’s getting really gross in there. Also, the toilets are getting rings so one of us needs to take care of that… maybe you could pick up some of those toilet tab things when you get groceries?”
“I thought you got groceries yesterday? I don’t have time to go to the store this week Kelly.” Nick snapped.
Kelly was frustrated. She thought they had a clear plan about chores for the week set up. “What do you mean you don’t have time? I thought we agreed you were going to Sprouts. And what about that date you promised me? Is that also something you won’t have time for?”
They finished getting ready and each left the house in a huff.
Hours later Kelly got a call from Nick. “Hey babe, let’s not fight. I was thinking about it, and I do want to take you on that date. I was also thinking about it and even though I know we haven’t wanted to do it in the past, let’s try using a maid service so that all the chores are done. You can have the time to do your hair, and I can go by the store so the groceries aren’t an issue. I can set it up for us and we can go do some fun things like we used to! I’ll even call Mom and Dad and have them watch the kids… they’ve been telling me how much they miss them!”
“Nick, you never cease to amaze me. I am so thankful for the ways you express your love to me.” Kelly said before hanging up the phone.
Nick called Miss is Clean and set up a date night package. Kelly took time getting ready and even had the chance to try a new make-up technique that her Limelife friend Nicole taught her. Nic put the groceries away and changed into his favorite slacks and blazer. He forgot how beautiful and sexy Kelly looked after she would do her favorite mud mask (the girl glowed) and curl her hair. Kelly loved the way the blazer accentuated Nick’s broad chest. Both were excited for their date but couldn’t help but notice the food on the counter top, dishes in the sink, and smeared make up and hair on their bathroom vanity as they were leaving. It didn’t matter though, they were determined to make “fun” the priority for the evening. Chores didn’t have to get in their way, because they new they could count on Miss is Clean to show up and finish on time.
Six hours later, they came home. When they walked in, they smelled pine and felt as though they were walking into an immaculate hotel! The dishes had been put away, the counters and floors were glowing. Nick went to use the restroom while Kelly picked out some good music with Alexa.
Nick noticed the bath bomb and candles that had been displayed. He got excited when he imagined ending the night with a steamy spa…
Kelly opened the bottle of wine that was included in their date night package, “Nick! I can’t believe this! You really went all out!” she yelled as she slipped off her Valentino Garavani Rockstud Leather pumps (her sister gave them two her because they pinched).
Instead of watching their usual X-Files, they listened to Escala. Instead of crashing after a long day of chores, they took a two hour bath together. Instead of rummaging for left overs, they drank wine and ate chocolate. And instead of racing to fall asleep in order to get up for work, they took their time, celebrating each other with more actions than words… all thanks to MISS IS CLEAN!
So the moral of this story is that with Miss is Clean as your resource, you and your Mrs. (or Mr.) will be perfectly set up to enjoy a date night (and the after party).
Don’t forget to check out our date night packages and book one, ok?
