Guys. We’ve done the hardest part (until we get to the bathroom)! Your deep clean could easily be mostly downhill from here!
In the video above, I talk about wiping down the kitchen and cleaning it. Check the bathroom post for more information on floors (I grouped floors and bathrooms in the same post).
Here are a few tips to help you as you deep clean your bathroom (that is… if you haven’t called me by this point!):
Take everything off the shelves. I know. It’s a pain. I promise you will spend LESS TIME and get a more thorough clean if you just suck it up and do it. Don’t you dare wipe around stuff unless you are doing a very basic maintenance clean. Truly, I think everything needs to be removed at least once a month (maybe once every two months if you’re single with no pets).
* Don’t forget to wipe down your overhead cabinet faces, backsplash, overhead vent (eek hope you haven’t cleaned your oven yet! Remember, always clean top down! #Tuition), fixtures, etc.
* No matter how clean you are, you may find that there is a (sometimes significant) amount of grease on fixtures, walls, the vent, and cabinets. If a multipurpose cleaner doesn’t do the trick, try a magic eraser or Bar Keeper’s friend.
* Throw a lemon in the disposal with 1 C vinegar to freshen it up. If you’re going all the way (emptying cabinets) vacuum them out before wiping the insides. This will save you a lot of time and will keep the floors free of debris that may end up back on the counter. I know it’s strange but somehow it happens (especially as you put items back onto the counter after doing the counter tops).
* Clean items as you place them back onto the counter tops.
*After you have cleaned EVERYTHING, sweep/vacuum the floors and hand mop (it’s the best if you’re deep cleaning). Alternatives: steam mop (I love my shark), wet mop, Bona, swiffer wet jet. I no longer use my Bona or wet jet because I prefer the steam mop and wet mop. Please see the bathroom video to learn the reason why!
Next up… Vacuuming!
