In our organizational video for the month, I mentioned two different methods that have helped me substantially in the past!
The first of which is the Kon Mari Method (I’ve only googled it and have never read the book) and the second was PEP (the Personal Efficiency Program). Today, I would like to give an intro to the Kon Mari and a short testimonial/review of my experience with it. I will write and post a part two entry where we will discuss PEP.
This month, we are not just going to explore the ins and outs of organizing. That’s only step 1!
This is a great time of year to do some deep organizing and as you organize, I would highly recommend taking the time to do a spring clean!
Spring cleaning should be done 1-4 times per year if you ask me. In my house, we spring clean in the spring and fall.
What is a “spring clean” you might ask? It’s a DEEP detailed clean!
This is the time to explode, move the furniture around, clean the baseboards, vacuum under the rug, clean off the top of your fridge, wipe down decor, and wipe down fixtures. If you are a homeowner or if you are responsible for your household’s upkeep (some renters), this is also a great time to go through a yearly or bi-yearly checklist.
If you would like help constructing a checklist of this nature to use now and in the future, please send me an email and I would be happy to put together a custom cleaning/organizing/maintenance plan to get you started. I would also be happy to offer time management coaching through my personal assistance and coaching business, You Times Two.
This is a great option if you live out of our service area or if you just want a hand getting started with some new lifestyle changes.
This month we will have seven posts that break down the cleaning processes. Each post will have at least one corresponding video for the audio/visual learners in the bunch. Please note that the videos and blog posts may include both similar and different content. The videos are intended to aid in the visual/methodological process whereas the blog post will target more theoretical aspects of cleaning, product reviews, etc.
The video topics follow an efficient and intentional cleaning process, so I highly recommend watching them in order and not skipping steps.
RULE #1: Top down and all around!
Always clean from the ceiling down and work your way AROUND a room. If you do this, you will not miss a thing. If you don’t…you’re on your own! The key is fighting the boredom.
Our post toppings will include the following:
*Picking up and organizing: Kon Mari Picking up and organizing: PEP (Personal Efficiency Program)
*Dusting
*Kitchen appliances
*Wiping down the kitchen
*Bathroom and floors
*Vacuuming and vacuum maintenance
In this short “series” I have committed to not withhold anything! So having said that, let’s dive in…
