Dusting

Videos

Dusting may seem super straight forward right? Maybe…

In this post I will discuss my overall method for ensuring all the dust is trapped and not allowed to spread through the rest of the cleaning process.

I will only use a swiffer duster (specifically the original dusting refills). I do not like the 360 refills because I don’t feel like they lock in dust as effectively and they are difficult to slide on and off the bar.

An extension microfiber duster can be a good choice for high ceilings and fixtures.

Always dust top down and all around.

So now that you’ve watched the video, you’re familiar with the wall-to-wall method.

If you’re doing a full blown deep clean, be sure to remove items from surfaces and dust them before you put them back on.

I rarely use furniture polish because I feel the oils in it make the dust more visible shortly after dusting. I do think it’s important to polish wood pieces (especially if you live in an arid environment) but I only do it once every 3-4 months at the most. There have been times when I’ve gone a full year only polishing once.

In our next post, we will talk about the ins and outs of cleaning kitchen appliances… no need to buckle up because it’s surprisingly straightforward and simple.
