Bathroom and Mopping/Floors

You can laugh at the idea of being intimidated to clean a bathroom because I’m going to hook you up with all the best tips and tricks! As always, clean from top to bottom. If you have a counter next to a tub or toilet, do that first before the tub or toilet so that you don’t wipe debris all over the place you just cleaned!

1. Start with whatever you don’t want to do the most (hate the toilet? What about the tub or shower?). Don’t forget to clean high to low!!!!

2. Don’t even dare start without a magic eraser. When you use it, wet it, spray an all purpose cleaner, and scrub in short circular motion until you’ve covered every inch of the surface you’re working on. You will feel a “grip” when you encounter soap scum. It might take 1-2 full rounds to know you’ve done everything. Occasionally for a move out or first time clean I will need to repeat this process 4-5 times before I can get it all. The magic eraser will last the longest if you fold it or cut it in half and hold it very firmly, only using the edges (as if you’re writing with a pencil). It will wear down length wise which will save it from deteriorating from the center. Through this technique, I’ve made an entire box last 9 months among all my clients!

3. Perform a “debris collection” wipe down with a multipurpose cleaner. This first one is just going to get all the debris off. Wipe in an S-shaped patter high to low and from the wall out. The S-pattern will help to “swoop” hair and debris towards you. Collect it in a pile and wipe it up with a final swoop of the rag.

4. Get a clean rag and wipe down the surface for the purpose of scrubbing off any remaining smudges. It seems the magic eraser will often loosen soap scum and debris but I find a series of wipe downs will remove them.

5. You might need to repeat your wipe downs until there are no hairs and smudges. Wipe your way out of a shower/tub to ensure you don’t leave behind any footprints.

6. When you clean your toilet, don’t forget to clean your plunger of any dust or “dirt”. Clean the base of the toilet and behind the toilet. You’ll have to get on your hands and knees to do it right. I know it can be intimidating… just hold your breath and embrace it (ready to call us yet?).

7. Finish up with the floors… but… you’ll have to learn more about that by watching the video! <3

Oh... and btw... use this as an opportunity pair down your 52 bottles of "bathroom stuff"... you know who you are! ;-)

*Expert Tip*: Remember that refrigerator tip about setting food products up? Do that with all your bathroom stuff! Organize it by category/theme, and display it with labels facing out. It tends to look best when the tall items are in the back and the shorties get to stand in the front (just like pictures). Close the caps, put extras away, and wipe off bottles as you're putting them back. Up next: Vacuuming!
